How to Master the Fortnite Power Hour Event
In Fortnite, Power Hour is a high-intensity, limited-time gameplay event that temporarily overwrites standard Battle Royale rules to focus on a specific crossover or mechanic.
As of January 2026, the most current iteration is Professor Chaos’ Power Hour, featuring the South Park collaboration.
What is Fortnite Power Hour?
A Power Hour is typically a 60 to 90-minute window where the entire loot pool and map behavior change to reflect a specific theme. During this time, standard gameplay is suspended in favor of "Chaos Mode" mechanics.
Current Event: Professor Chaos (Jan 2026)
The current Power Hour began on January 17, 2026, focusing on the "villain" version of Butters Stotch.
- The Main Gimmick: Multiple Sticks of Truth rift onto the island simultaneously.
- The Boss: Professor Chaos himself spawns as a high-tier NPC boss, dropping Mythic loot and chaos-themed items.
- XP Bonuses: Players receive a Supercharged XP boost during the hour, making it the best time to grind the Battle Pass.
Historical Power Hours
Epic Games has used this format for several major collaborations recently:
- Lord Zedd’s Power Hour (Sept 2025): Every weapon on the island was replaced with Blade Blasters from Power Rangers for 60 minutes.
- Zero Hour Finale (Nov 2025): A precursor to Chapter 7, where the map was filled with "Reality Glitches" and crossover characters like Godzilla and Homer Simpson appeared in the sky.
How to Participate
Power Hours are one-time-only spectacles. If you miss the window, you cannot replay the event.
Check the Schedule: These events usually happen on Saturdays at 3:30 PM ET.
Join the Dedicated Playlist: 40 minutes before the hour begins, a special "Power Hour" or "Zero Build Power Hour" tile will appear in the Discover Tab.
Secure Your Spot: Because the servers often hit capacity, it is recommended to be in the lobby at least 15 minutes early.

Rewards & Loot
Participating in a Power Hour often grants exclusive "Attendance" rewards that cannot be earned elsewhere:
- Free Rewards: Simply logging in during the hour usually unlocks an event-themed Spray or Emoticon.
- Mythic Drops: In the current Professor Chaos event, the Stick of Truth allows players to manipulate the storm circle or force players to "ragdoll" across the map.
